What type of hangers should I use to hang a heavy electrical box on the side of my house?

What type of hangers should I use to hang a heavy electrical box on the side of my house? My house is made of stucco, and I would like to hang an electrical breaker box on the side of the house. I'm wondering what kind of hanger i should use. The stucco does not have plywood underneath it. The box I want to hang is a 200 amp service panel and yes it is heavy. The stucco just has paper and wire to hold it up. Its a surface mount panel, and is only 14.5" wide.

  1. Locate the studs and use lag screws to hold it in place. Once you get one located, the others should be 16 inches on center.
  2. I need more information. What type of box are you talking about? )a load center or sub-panel - and is it for "exterior use"? 1- Stucco doesn't support itself, it has to be anchored to something. 2- A load center has a main breaker and several smaller breaker spaces (as few as 8 and as many as 20) [100 Amps] 3- A 200 Amp center can have up to 40 spaces (Really heavy and 6 holes for mounting). 4- You wouldn't be able to hang the box to the stucco and wire mesh that supports it. You would need a backboard anchored to the studs behind the stucco. (it wouldn't win any beauty contests even if you were to paint it - but it would hold). 5- Last of all - why would want to hang a breaker panel outside and have to go out in the rain to reset a breaker that went off?
