what is a good way to store coat hangers?

I have some spare hangers, depending on how much laundry i have to do i sometimes have quite a lot of them. I find keeping clip hangers and shirt hangers separately helps me to get my work done. If I hang the empties in the wardrobes they tend to get mixed up. Does anyone know a good way of storing them when they are not in use?

3. lend them to a friend. they might need some coat hangers and they wont be taking up space in your house.
4. I gather them up all in the same direction and wrap rubber bands around the hook part to bundle them in manageable #'s and put them in a basket beside the dryer. Never just throw them in a basket loose! That's a mess.
5. I mounted a closet rod above my washer and dryer. I keep all my extras there. It also works nice as a place to hand damp clothing, instead of running the dryer another 5 minutes for one item.
